What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient cultural practice that is said to have been known to man for thousands of years. It is a complementary therapy which works on the feet and can help provide deep relaxation, assisting the body to regain balance. Although it does not claim to cure, the gentle stimulation of the reflexes in the feet may help to restore energy and promote circulation, creating the right conditions for a return to optimum health.

Reflexology is a technique that deals with the principle that there are reflexes in the feet that correspond to all the organs, glands, and parts of the body. It is a unique method of using thumbs and fingers on these reflex areas.
With stress a contributory factor in about 80% of illness diagnosed, reflexology is one of the ways to mitigate the stresses of modern life.

Reflexology is suitable for both men and women of all ages and a session can help:
Relax your body    Improve your mood    Aid your sleep   Help to relieve tension
Improve your sense of well-being.
As well as relief from a wide range of conditions such as:   • Stress  • Back pain
• Headaches/migraines   • Fertility issues   • Sleep disorders

A Typical First Session

Before the treatment I will ask you to remove your shoes and socks and cleanse the feet while a client consultation form will be completed and then your full one hour reflexology session will start, therefore please allow 1h 30 on your first treatment to enable me to fully explain reflexology to you as well.

The treatment is not ticklish as a firm but comfortable pressure is used when working on your feet. You are laid back on a heated bed with blankets and water available. Once the treatment has finished you should feel calm and refreshed.
It is important to ensure you drink plenty of water after the session, 6-8 glasses in the following 24 hours is recommended. Even as glass before you arrive will assist with your treatment.

Please wear loose fitting trousers or clothing where the lower legs can be treated during reflexology.

Having completed a course of 4 to 6 reflexology treatment for a specific condition, many people find it beneficial to continue with regular treatments to maintain health and well-being.

60 mins Reflexology session - £30

• Stress Reduction. • Improved Circulation.  • Stimulated Nerve Function   • Improved Immune System.  • Increased Energy

1) Stress Reduction - When we are stressed our body's defenses break down and we become more susceptible to illness & disease. Reflexology reduces stress by generating deep tranquil relaxation, helping the body balance itself and allowing healing energy to flow.

2) Improved Circulation - Blood needs to flow freely throughout the body carrying oxygen and nutrients to all the cells and removing the waste products of metabolism and other toxins. By reducing stress and tension, reflexology allows the cardiovascular vessels to conduct the flow of blood naturally and easily.

3) Stimulated Nerve Function - By stimulating more than 7,000 nerves in the feet, reflexology encourages the opening and clearing of neural pathways. It interrupts pain pathways, reducing pain.

4) Improved Immune System - Reflexology stimulates the lymphatic system thus reducing risk of infection. It cleanses the body of toxins and impurities and also stimulates the production of endorphins, leading to an improved immune system and sense of well-being.

5) Increased Energy - Reflexology revitalises energy throughout the body by relaxing and opening up energy pathways.
